The glamorous Ruth Van Rydock (Joan Collins) contacts her old friend Jane Marple with a mystery her sister Carrie Louises study has been devastated by a fire. And Ruth suspects foul play.

While Carrie Louise (Penelope Wilton) has the same blithe spirit as ever, Ruth fears dark forces are at play at Stonygates, the home Carrie shares with her third husband Lewis Serrocold (Brian Cox), various relatives and a motley crew of young criminals, the latest object of Carries philanthropic endeavours.

  • I absolutely adore Joan Hickson, she's *the* Marple for me. But Julia McKenzie is really growing on me...

  • @MissJessyeNorman I love Margaret Rutherford - but her Miss Marple is not at all like Agatha Christie's. Joan Hickson was almost exactly like I'd imagined MM from reading the books.

  • @Soofshaa With these new productions they often stray a great deal from the original plot. Even changing the murderer.

I imagine they think audiences don't want to see the same story over again. I don't agree, but alas, I still enjoy these. Just not as much as the ones that stay faithful to Agatha's books.

  • @GiniaKat I agree, except that Margaret Rutherford still stands as #1 for me, lol. With Joan Hickson as a close second, then Julia Mckenzie... =)

  • Joan Hickson, and Joan Collins. This has to be a good Episode!!

  • @lynfendleyfoster I agree!!!

  • How strange the station master mentions 4:50 from Paddington at 5:31. That was the title of one of AG's novels.

  • @lynfendleyfoster Yes I am with you. I agree all these women are a class of their own and they epitomize Ms. Jane Marple in their own way. I wish people realised that instead of bashing the actresses.

  • Thank you for posting this series in you tube.
