On the first day of my spring holidays, I made an overdue visit to Ku-Ring-Gai early on a Monday morning after 18 months. Following a 30min cruise on my bike, I arrived in Roseville Chase just after 5:30am. I heard crashing glass as soon as I turned towards the residential area from the main road, so I followed the trail and found not just the bottles truck, but also the paper truck and garbage truck collecting behind each other along the first couple of streets I found them in. I'd been wanting to get a shot of a few trucks collecting in a line and finally got a clip as you'll see first up.

I followed these three trucks around and got 2 clips of each during the next 2 hours. In between, I also managed to cross paths with the clean-up and trade waste RLs. I got the green-waste clips two days later as I was stupid that morning and decided to alter my plans. Also instead of making separate videos of each collection, I decided to make this large compilation of all four collections.

Some of you will not have seen anything from Ku-Ring-Gai before as this was one of the first councils I ever started visiting. The cool thing about K-R-G is that it's one of few councils which uses 360Ls (96g) for residential collections, and of course it's where you can find some of Sydney's friendliest garbos.

I'll get back out there again for some longer footage, as well as some hopper camera action (particularly of the greens truck). Until then here are the MacDonald Johnstons doing the garbage and greens, and a couple of Raptors doing the bottles and paper recycling. I really hope all you guys and the drivers enjoy the early morning footage I captured, all ratings and comments are highly appreciated. After you watch this, take a look at the clean-up video and quick trade waste collection...

Body Makes: MacDonald Johnston / Superior Pak
Models: 22m Refuse & 29m Recycler / 29m Raptors
Chassis: Iveco Acco
Council: Ku-Ring-Gai Municipal
Contractor: Veolia Environmental Services
Collection Type: Garbage / Bottles / Paper / Green-Waste

  • hmmm sulo must still make the SULO 2 lids since KMC would have had to orderd new blue lids for the paper bins but any way great vid

  • @Ivecofan21 Yeh they have to keep producing them for aftersales. Imagine what would happen if they officially ceased any manufacturing of Sulo2 parts with all the repairs and damage that occurs to existing bins.

  • awesome mate, what good luck to get the trucks following each other. I always have bad luck, when two garbage trucks are crossing each other my camera conks out!

  • @Trashman242 Ah right... well there is a shitload of URM/Warringah footage ready to upload; only have a few videos with the Sidepak.

  • @MitchellM15 Uhh, well I guess I meant the ones existent in the "new" URM fleet, whichever one(s) I saw in that video you posted in the last 12 months.

  • @Trashman242 You referring to the Veolia (ex-)Compaction Systems or the current URM ones... which would actually just be the Sidepaks? The Veolia greens footage is well overdue, and have some footage of the Sidepak collecting greens, garbage and recycling (spread through 3 videos).

  • @MitchellM15 haha well glad the # of words was proportionate to how you felt about the video after finishing it :D Yeah I remember all those cool truck you showed us IN YOUR OWN FREAKING COUNCIL haha! Still want to see more footage of some of those you know! Like those (ex-)Compaction Systems trucks....

  • I just love it how they have 96g for greens and 240L for recycling. Next time I'm there it'd be awesome if I could find one of their little Papas RLs for the public bins. Worked out pretty well getting the clips at different times - this'd probably be one of my fav videos I've done :) Cheers for all the words, stars and fav!

  • Damn someone had a lot to say! lol I thought it'd be nice to get them all in one, the last time I ever did a video like this was probably when I posted Warringah In Action? Yeh I was told they do these few streets together first up and then break up shortly after - worked for me =] I was in pretty dark streets... wanted some main road shots with better lighting, but they were too quick :/ Been about 1.5yrs since I was there last, was nice to get back into Roseville...

  • Not that you have to go everywhere twice, just more unique stuff to see here. Really enjoyed the 7:30 shot btw, definitely a well-made video with how you switched back and forth between the different trucks as well as nighttime shots + daytime ones :D 5* and fav!! It's been a while since I've watched an Aussie ASL video like this!
