A college 2 count is literally about 1 second, but a 3 count seems to usually be a full 5 seconds for some reason. College does a great job of counting on the way down, basically if a guys shoulders break 90 degrees in college it is almost always a set of 2 backs. The Jayson Ness vs Daniel Dennis finals, end of the 2nd period should have been 2 backs for ness as he could have held him there longer but was used to getting the 2 with that

You're right about refs still giving 2 even if they don't make the count. They might just see 2 nearfall and not have counted it
