He might or might not be a comedian, what he refers to in a context of "cultural difference" is an absolute realistic fact which you can choose to deny. That doesn't make Tom Friedman right, but definitely makes you a total dumb chump bonehead.
Just take India as an example: They have a rich culture, and deep dependence on family, even extended families.. not just in the villages bu in cities as well. Families are being broken up due to this "material gain" There is a whle new generation of Indins that are bypassing their culture, their rituals, their customs, their families for 200 US dollars a month. To see the other side of material gain watch friedman's later documentary "outsourced". Even he has made changes since writing his book
The professor in this video says that the problem is that people do not have the same ideals and are therefore not ready to "collaborate". Let me tell you, money and the chance for an income have an incredible way of helping people set aside their idealogical differences for the purpose of material gain. I don't think the fact that this new middle class that has arisen-of which Thomas Friedman speaks-will be hindered in their trade together by the different values they hold.
@navyseal93 exactly - in fact I think that is exactly what Thomas was saying.

Professor Javidan was not listening. Thomas Friedman's main point was indivduals are now connected.

this guy a Ph.D? how? - as an intelect, he does not stack up to Friedman. As a comedian, not bad. What is his point!
