Camille is an actress who sings, her interpretation of dramatic pieces- such as this song , have sublime emotional impact. Her voice is not as musically precise as such performers as Amanda Palmer but nevertheless she has the essence , which is so vital to material like this.

AMAZING.... Thank you, thank you for posting this, I've been looking for it since seeing her for the first time, live at the Roundhouse last month - she is a truly, truly amazing performer, had the audience in the palm of her hand from the first note.... WHAT a unique, spellbinding stage presence.... Amanda Palmer's version of this is great, but Camille is in a league of her own....

@forthst18 Why should people not believe some of the other reviews? You don't like this version, so you insist that everyone else not like it too? Do you *really* not see the ignorance and arrogance of such a position? Telling someone "check out this other version" can be educational; telling them to not like what they like is absurd.
No, after listening to this a few more times I changed my mind: I *am* going to disregard some of the other reviews. Starting, and ending, with yours.

PLEASE don't believe some of these reviews.....this is a painfully laboured version of this song that is all about Camille and not about the song or its lyrics........it's just not good enough a performance and her decision to sing it so slowly and with TOO much pathos means that the power of the original is dissipated. It's a shame that there is no video showing the writer Dillie Keane perform it. BUT, there is an audio version. Listen to that and then compare with Camille's selfish performa

Watch and listen if you want a bloody good cry. Remembering my mam who died 2 years ago.

i think this song is very emotional, if you listen to the lyrics i'm sure you'll be moved. this is from a hairy arsed irishman

Hmmm interesting comments... esp clairelouise! I saw Camille live singing this and you could hear and even feel if a pin dropped and there was definately more than my couple of tears in the room even a bloke 2seats away!

Nothing on the origional by Dillie. Dillie has a much better voice and sang it with much more expression. This version hasn't touched me at all!

Only this evening, discovered Camille, Edinburgh Fringe. Fabulous Fabulous voice!!!

I prefer Amanda Palmer's version. It seems less rehearsed and more natural.

It's a little unfair to credit the song writing to only Dillie Keane, the lyrics were written by both Dillie and her Fascinating AIda colleague Adele Anderson.
@ forthst18 You're welcome to your opinion, but please don't assume that all the other people who LOVE this rendition don't have ears just cos you disagree with them. (And liking Camille's version doesn't mean you can't also like Dillie's. Or Amanda's either. Great, individual performers, all of them)
