Echo Rose painting

Daligoddess2006 won my painting competition, here is a short video of the prize painting..... I sent it to her a week ago. The subject is her daughter, Echo Rose who is a singer songwriter and has videos here on Youtube... aka rmrsgirl

My technique ... I use acrylic paints, watered down so that they are quite transparent. I never mix on the palette but instead use optical mixing (hence the thin colours)
I get high contrast into my paintings by using watercolour masking fluid.
Once the fluid dries I paint the remaining areas with thin layers of paint.......each layer is allowed to dry before the next is applied.
I then remove the dried masking fluid and continue painting
I do not use any black paint in my paintings. Instead colours are rendered in layers over each other to create an optically mixed black. Layers of brown and blue are applied; each layer is allowed to dry before applying the next wash of colour. The resulting dark tones are more vibrant due to this technique. This takes time but I think the results are worth it.
setting out the image is important. squaring up or projection are used equally but I am increasingly drawing freehand. If I make a mistake the liquid rubber wipes off easily. The masking fluid I use is Windsor & Newton

I don't use a brush. instead I use a squeezy dispenser...... look at my Jimi Hendrix videos for a close up video shot of it.

i have some fluid mask whìch isn't exactly liquid as the 1 you use...are there different kinds of maskin fluids or are they all the same?how do u get yours so liquid?

:) yes, RobLee is listening to the recording while painting...it's not for sale yet, but soon and yes...I did write it...based on the way my new love makes me feel, but I think any woman SHOULD and CAN relate to this when we think about engaging in our beautiful beings and feeling strong, passionate and sexy. I am so honored that you like it :) I am looking into the process of putting my stuff on-line for availability, but have been holding off because an album might come sooner ;)
