Just because he got hit like that, doesn't mean he's a dumbass. The 8-Tailed possibly had more power than Sasuke did. The 8-Tailed was a whole lot faster and powerful than Sasuke so he had a disavantage. Now, if it was a, I'm guessing a 4 tail or lower, Sasuke could've handled it. The more the tails, the more the power and chakra of course. And who even cares about the illusion? The beast could have disabled it with ease. Genjutsu would have no effect.

The Jinchuuriki are suppose to be gods amongst most ninjas so sasuke having his work cut out for him doesnt suprise me especially since hes fighting a jinchuuriki who is very experienced and has full control over his beast
