This is the first song from Maire Brennan's album Misty Eyed Adventures from 1994. This song was inspired from her father Leo's glorious stories of when he toured with his show band and when people where more about dancing in halls and taverns. Once the dancing went out of fashion, people were more inclined to sit and be entertained by bands, so Leo started Leo's Tavern where Clannad started playing and still do from time to time. Located in Gaoth Dobhair(Gweedore), Donegal, Ireland, it is a musical Mecca for many people.

  • brillian song...brings back so many memories!

  • I always thought it had the sounds and rhythms of some forms of Greek music and done by Maire(pronounced Moya) Brennan who also did Harry's Game as far as lead vocals makes it better.

  • @Steph9737 I wholeheartedly agree about the Greek sounds...probably syrto or rembetiko or kritiko...

  • Magical, beautiful & glorious song. The Brennan girls! Have always liked this with its bittersweet start & then just those wonderful la la la la lah lah's. Makes me smile & sing along. Wish there was a video from the studio for this little-known piece of musical genius. Sounds like the Brennan girls were all smiling as they sang. And that final flourish of joy. Special!

  • sounds like a very happy song ! i love it !

  • One of my favorites ever! Thanks so very, very much!

  • She has an amazing voice. Check out Moya and Chicane tear up the dance floor with "Saltwater" it's trance music accompanied by "harry's Game"(Clannad sung by Moya).

  • Adoro esta canção, maravilhosa.
