2011 Aftermath of the Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup Riot - HD - BuyRIC.com

Following the Vancouver Canucks loss against the Boston Bruins in Game 7 for the Stanley Cup on June 15, 2011, riots broke out throughout downtown Vancouver. Mayor Gregor Robertson pegged the instigators as a "small group of anarchists" who came well equipped with masks, gloves, weapons, and other supplies for the purpose of rioting.

Vehicles were lit on fire, retail store windows were smashed, in-store products were looted, while injuries and over 100 arrested occurred during the night of the riots that lasted from the moment the game ended around 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm when the Vancouver Police Department was able to subdue most of the violence with the use of force, flash banging, and tear gas.

Key sites that were vandalized that are shown in this video include the Bank of Montreal, a parkade, and The Hudson's Bay Company, which also features live on-site broadcasts by Rob Brown of CTV and Chris Gailus of Global TV.

There were big crowds at all the other games in the cup final as well as thruought the playoffs with NO problems. Once these loonies showed up then all hell broke loose.
