FTP does not require you to pay anything to log in
however that's not how soe sees FTP In SOE version of FTP only the 4 worst classes and 4 worst races in Ever Quest 2 will be FTP. All the other races and classes must be bought for Real cash so sorry elf wizard you better give us 7.50 before you can log in, Never mind your naked too... o you might have another too PAY MORE!!!

So in fact they are punishing a VETERAN player as shown:
1] You HAPPEN to have created Dark Elf (now chargeable race) in 2004
2] You decide to play free to play
3] You find you can't log in without paying to unlock Dark Elf
3] Devs justify this by saying 'well normally if you don't pay your sub you can't play at all', even though they are without embarrassment calling the game FREE to play, which it won't be to me

@Kenman540 The reason they couldn't keep SWG was a licensing issue. Lucas* didn't want two Star Wars games competing against each other (SWG/ToR). So they denied the license renewal for SWG. Wasn't really SoE's fault on this.

I've got an 82 Kerra Paladin on live I have not played for a while. I look forward to playing him again once this all gets merged. Of course, between the two games I have a total of 11 or 12 characters so only some of them will be available to play without buying more slots.
