It was originally created by two talented Puerto Rican musicians that were students at the Román Baldorioty de Castro High School, in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Wisón Torres and deceased Carmelo Montalvo, lead guitar. Sources stated that Wisón Torres lead a musical group known as Los Duendes in the early 1950s. Carmelo, known for his comicity and great sense of humor, was the lead guitar for a group known as Los Sultanes (The Sultans), they joined their talents with a well known graphic artist and illustrator for the defunct daily El Imparcial, Luis Nieves and Julito Alonso.
The quartet made their first appearance at the Public square in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The group through the years managed to include the great voice of deceased Charlie Vazquez and Tato Díaz. Los Hispanos, have presented many musical shows with Paquito Cordero Productions, and had shared their talents internationally. A leading voice, Charlie Vázquez passed away after a long illness. They often shared TV and show audiences with renowned artists like such icons as Tito Lara (deceased) (Tito Lara, recorded hits such as Orquideas and Celos Son, a Spanish versión of Jealousy) and Ida Claudio.
