Powder Coating 2 classic truck bumpers in our Orem, UT based powder coating shop.

For longer coating life, we first sprayed the bumpers with a primer powder coating. That coating goes into the curing oven for a "partial cure" were the heat turns the primer's powder into a gel and when it cools, it becomes a hard, partially cured coating. The top powder coating - white, in this case - goes on after the primer.

The whole job then goes into the curing oven to heat the substrate (material being coated) to around 390F for about 12 minutes. While heated the second time, the primer can fully cure and the two coatings bond to each other in the final minutes of the curing cycle.
