Officers from the 81 Precinct arrested two men as they committed an armed robbery in Brooklyn the evening of January 16. Police Officers Mark Xylas and Favio Quizhpi responded to a 911 call of a robbery in progress inside of a deli. Upon arriving they observed several patrons hiding and two armed suspects assaulting a store employee. As the two officers identified themselves and told the suspects to drop their weapons they also directed the patrons to safety outside the store. The two armed suspects surrendered and were apprehended with assistance from other responding officers. Two loaded firearms were recovered and the suspects were charged with robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, unlawful imprisonment, and menacing.
