Recently I organized a open introduction class in my school to attract new students to my school. When I was establishing the program for the day I realized that there would be only one person who was the best to explain to the public what Kenpo really is...right....mr. Parker himself. So I thought that It would be great to create a small video in which Ed Parker's explains in his own words what Kenpo is. I compiled some great, great Ed Parker footage en combined it with audio from different of his intervieuws and so came to creating this 8 minute video! It was a succes amongst my students and the visitors and so I thaught that it would be great as well to share this video with you! So here it is...Kenpo in Ed Parker's Own Words!

  • the video beggins when he says "You Can Also Perform These Movements... , If You May Try..." (what say at the end of this video..) and then he starts to do what it seems to be the long form five... or somethin' like that.. it's like a continuity from this video.. xD...

  • @Jorge008 I know exactly which one you mean....it seems to be deleted from youtube since I cant find it either. Maybe I will be able to upload it from my own files......anyway, the scene is part of a film which was made by Larry Tatum......

  • All negativity about Kenpo exists in the fact that it's all translated to English in my experience with haters. But then I ask, "if I punch you in the nose is the blood any less real because I didn't have to study Chinese to learn my art"

  • MrBotheman, American Kenpo has always been a practical, flexible art (note Mr. Parker's "tailor" analogy), so the tragic splintering and in-fighting among those claiming to teach "the one, true Kenpo", since Mr. Parker's death, is especially meaningless. If you can find an instructor in your area whose techniques fit you, or who can adapt the techniques to fit you, by all means embrace the art. American Kenpo deserves no less. Good luck!

  • AKKSNetherlands, thank you for this video. I can think of no greater tribute to Kenpo than to preserve Mr. Parker's own words here.

  • @MrBotheman he man kenpo is a great art people on here don't know anything they watch the ufc and say it is rubbish but kenpo is not a ring sport it is a street fighting art. I have been training for 4 years now and before that i was training ishinryu karate when i started kenpo i realised that my years of ishinryu had been a waste kenpo is diirect and to the point. Definetly worth trying. If you want to know anymore just send me a messgae and good luck in whatever you decide to do.

  • Great video. Thanks a lot.

  • I'm really interested in learning kenpo. Does anyone here who knows what the heck they are talking about have any advice? it seems like half the people on youtube just like to say negative things for the hell of it so please don't waist my time with bullshit. I am very serious about my martial arts and expect the same from you. The reason i am thinking of learning kenpo is because of the fast paced, precise striking. I feel like it would suit my fighting style well. Thanks for reading.

  • @viciousbloodbath I tried my best to hear him.. and he does say those two words i thought since the beginning xD.. "To Cope With A Fighting Found On Our Streets Today..."

  • My instructor was his sons best friend in high school. He got me into the martial arts and has changed my life:)

  • hello

  • and i jizzed in my pants:D
