Historically, bars was my best event, but even though I've gotten stronger, I've not been able to make many improvements. This was pretty much the sum total of my bar work out yesterday. In addition to its brevity (I didn't get to train any skills), there are lots of problems here—form breaks on the push back, not finishing the kip with shoulders over the bar. But, I can't get better if my hands are only good for a minute and half workout once a week. I tried to tape up and keep going, but I started bleeding right away. Understandably, it's a no blood on the bars kind of gym. It's pretty obvious; I need grips. I've just put off getting them because I've never used a dowel, and I know they require an adjustment.

  • Wow those kips are fantastic!! I had my kip, but I lost it and I have a feeling its do to strength. Is there any exercises you can recommend for me to do at home to get the skill back? :)

  • @xxgymnastxx97 Thank you. As far as recommended exercises, if you have a pull up bar, I would do pull ups and hanging leg raises. Otherwise, try v-ups, hollow body rocks, and lots of different push up variations. Good luck! I'm sure you'll get it back in no time.

    those swings loked a lot like muscleups to me :-)

  • @deadlift99 I haven't been working on muscle ups at all lately.  That ugly one remains my best one. How are yours coming?

  • the bandaid is causing the bleeding. if you stick the tape to the skin it will act like an extra skin and you'll be able to continue. I hope that helps. Keep up the good work.

    i dont have anywhere to local to practice. There is some playground equipment at the other side of town thats suitable. But havent cycled over that way for a while. always slightly nervous i will be arrested. 44 year old swining around on kiddies playground....:-(

  • @thekimbakimba2 Thanks Kimba! I'm sure you've got the strength to do a kip. Now just find a bar, about shoulder height high, and work your jump to glide first. I'll coach you from a far.
