-- www.LogBuilding.org -- From my new DVD series "Building Log Homes" Using a chisel to score a corner notch before it is cut out with a chainsaw. Scoring prevents splintering, and increases accuracy and speed. Upcoming DVD.
Using chisel may seem slower, but I think it depends on the one working on the notch, and how he controls the chisel. It'll take some time shaping the log until its completely scored.
very slow method , after 31 years of fullscribe I have found scoring the line with a razor knife is much , much faster and does a better job of maintaining the mark , chisels are outdated as heck
Зачем загонять стамеску так глубоко ??? Ведь для того, чтобы края не лохматились, достаточно ножом прорезать черту на пару миллиметров. А так и времени уходит много...

Quite a labor intensive process. Imagine how long it took to build even a small cabin before the advent of modern machinery!
