  • Thanks, brother. Bong Polin drives a cab nowadays for a living. He leads a low key life as he's always been. By the way, this view from Phnom Chiso reminds me of my boyhood time accompanying my grandma to perform her ritual "Chaul Krou". May be we're related, no? I'm 58 years old, got my Bac 2 in 71 at 18 Mars High (or Yukunthor), and attended Faculté de droit, 71-72, before leaving for the U.S. in 72. Anyway you'll be always my bro for sharing Kamach's. Thanks.

  • @palinesoth - hey bro' thanks for your warm friendship - my ancestors are from around thnol totoeung, you know the village where the road to phnom chiso join up to national road #2. anyway could you please urge Lauk Soth Polin to write up his memoirs of the sixties to mid-seventies. He really voiced the aspirations of khmer youth in those days. he owes it to the khmer nation to present his views, regardless of what detractors, critics or sundry ignorami may say.

  • You are right, bro. , about growing up in the 60's and being influenced by Kamach and Sereyvuth, a.k.a. Nop Neang. Kamach was camarade de classe of my big brother, Soth Polin, and Sereyvuth was buddy to my other big brother, Pola Soth. Kamach is still in touch with my other brother, Pola Soth.

  • @palinesoth - wow man is it Soth Polin the legendary editor of my favourite Nokor Thom Daily news? how can anyone forget? daring novelist, innovative journalist you name it - one of the Khmer intelligentsia's enfant terrible! back in 1972/73 ever saturday night i used to spend my pocket money on pong tea kaun, sach ko aing and Nokor Thom's sunday edition. He ought to write a memoir and share what he knows about Khmer Republic regime. Please give your bro' my fondest regards.

  • @chhmar99utube No, I did not know anyone by that surname in Fac Commerce.

  • @chhmar99utube Yes. They love watching us played, Just don't want us to play professionally.

  • @chhmar99utube "Sak Anlay": Mol Kamach wrote this song.

  • @molkagnol - it's unusual to have khmer parents so understanding and encouraging when it comes to music. once i asked my mum to let me learn Tro khmer she asked back if i wanted to be a beggar! by the way, do you know of someone at Fac Commerce by the surname Phlong?

  • @molkagnol - can you tell me who wrote the melody, and the lyrics.. so i can correctly give credits to the authors.. when/where was it written? was it about some specific event? it's so cool i still can't believe i'm talking to khmer legendary artists!!

  • @chhmar99utube - Hi, bro. Mine is from Ang Tnaut. I believe my maternal great-grand father, Lok ta Nou Kan, came from that region. Bong Polin has written a couple more books, some in french, since he left Cambodia in that frantic escape in 1974. I think he's still working on another book about the time leading to March 18, 1970, which I believe will be good. And I will tell him about your comment. Merci.
