When I learned of the recent death of Suzanne Pleshette, it reminded me of this wonderful movie from 1969.

A lot of the humour seems dated now, and certainly the naivte and ignorance of the Americans does (or should), but it's still a charming movie to me, and a nice taste of a less jaded, sex-crazed time.

  • Ian or "charlie" just played "Blackbeard" in The pirates of the caribbean 4. so at least one of them was in a big big movie

  • @Brentonarms

O, Ian McShane has done a lot of big things. But to me, he'll always be Lovejoy.

  • i've never saw this movie in my whole life..

but has this anything to do with belgium?

i really wanna know 'cause i'm from belgium

  • @xNOUKSTARR

Like the clip says, it's about a bunch of tourists on a quick tour of Europe. Belgium is one of the countries they visit, but it's more about the people than the places, to tell the truth.

  • While Donovan did write the theme song, according to Wikipedia and other sites, it was actually performed by J.P. Rags.

Interesting. If so, then their voices sound very much alike.

  • My apologies it the monument dedicated to the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne.

  • The scene at the Normandy Invasion monument caused hysteria when I saw it. Most provincial Americans still don't know what a bidet is, or even how to use it. Or the scene where the single American unknowingly has an arranged marriage possibility with a heavy girl, so he avoids her by jumping in theVenice canals all the while being pursued by a 60's goddess. Yuck after yuck. 1969 was a pivotal year, this film, the Sterile Cuckoo,Easy Rider,Midnight Cowboy, The Wild Bunch, Bob & Carol,Ted & Alice

  • @jlmww Did you get to see Skywest and Crooked? It's available on DVD. There is a clip on Youtube.

  • @iluvcats59 Ah, that would explain it! Thank you for the update! :-)

  • @TheCatgirl6

I just did some researching, and according to several sites, while Donovan wrote the theme song, it was actually performed by J.P. Rags.
