Founded in 1971 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the University features Consciousness-Based education to develop students' inner potential. All students and faculty practice the Transcendental Meditation technique, which extensive published research has found boosts learning ability, improves brain functioning, and reduces stress.
Maharishi University uses the block system in which each student takes one course at a time students report they learn more without the stress of taking 4-5 courses at once.
The University has a strong focus on sustainability and natural health, and serves organic vegetarian meals. The B.S. in Sustainable Living is MUM's most popular undergraduate major.

First I love David Lynch, his films have been favorites of mine for years and years. Secondly I am a an ardent yoga practitioner and believe what they are saying. But moreover, I find it ironic that David is this proponent for peace but makes such horrific and violent movies. Furthermore based off of those facts I find it even more ironic that I enjoy his films but believe in peace.
He talked about that at the David Lynch weekend here in '06 -- check out the video "Darkness and Light." Mr. Lynch will be hosting a Visitors' Weekend here, Nov. 13-16, 2009 -- you can ask him about it then if you like.
This Maharishi University definitely seems interesting. My Bachelor's degree is in Physics and I'm an ardent Hindu. I wonder how much credit these people give to the Vedas without which there would be neither TM nor creation!
Empirical research is exactly what's in those studies. They created large peace-creating groups and then looked at what happened to crime rate, violence, peace efforts, etc. The statistics used are top rate, and the journals are peer reviewed. You can watch the video and see; the references to a couple of the studies are given in the video.
