Václav Havel (Czech pronunciation: (5 October 1936 -- 18 December 2011) was a Czech playwright, essayist, poet, dissident and politician.
A Nobel Peace Prize nominee, he was the ninth and last president of Czechoslovakia (1989--1992) and the first President of the Czech Republic (1993--2003). He wrote over 20 plays and numerous non-fiction works, translated internationally.
I'm American, but I really loved Vaclav Havel. He was one of my biggest heroes and a wonderful person. I agree he should have received more media attention. In fact, I thought he should have received more attention, even when he was still alive. I always used to check the news whenever I heard VH was attending summit meetings or when the US president was visiting the Czech Republic. It was always worth it because Vaclav Havel always did or said something inspiring, funny, etc. I will miss him.

:-o What an emotional message.
I hope that we will not only keep in mind the cruel dictators but also the ones who realized the changes and who are a little bit different as statesman than the average...
Thanks for posting.
