Tracie R. Davis sings "My Man's Gone Now" for a studio class, October 2008. Age 22, Louisiana State University.

*There are a few awkward moments and mess ups, but it's not too bad...definitely a work in progress. Hope you enjoy... Comments are welcomed!

  • Gorgeous singing. The accompanist however, was seriously lacking in sensitivity and nuance. She was just banging away. A better accompanist would have really made that thing soar. I've sung this a million times and the accompanist must not only know the notes but be able to give your voice space to blossom. Your voice is so perfectly suited to this song. Best of luck with your career. You are a rising star.

  • @mamadeleau Thank you! Yeah, this was the first time she had seen this music. It was just for a weekly studio class, so that's why she wasn't playing with much sensitivity. I'm sure if she had seen the music before and had time to work with me, it would have been much better. But thank you so much for the compliment!

  • how old are you if you say high school age i will shit myself

  • lol no i am 22, about to graduate college

  • akward moments? the whole thing was fucking amazing. Would you ever consider covering pyscho killer? that would be cool.

  • totally didn't mean to erase your other comment. meant to click "replay" instead of "remove" anyway, i think we can negotiate something. lol

  • I love it.... you are great! Your voice was made for rep like this... keep up the AMAZING work.... dont stress it... a studio class is the time to make, acknowledge and learn from those "awkward moments" so that you can avoid them in the future... just keep on working hard.

  • I just saw the more recent one you posted of this. Fantastic !

  • Very well done ! As you pointed out, there were some awkward moments, but they weren't musical ones. They were more in the presentation - you seemed a little self-concious in spots which is perfectly understandable and easily corrected. Thats where a video can help you slip into character better. But other than that, it was excellent !

Kudos also to the pianist for an excellent job (as well turning her own pages without missing a beat) !

    Bravo !

  • My classical vocals are dark and heavy like yours and I have so many issues with it. You really are blooming in this piece.

  • that's quite a full voluptuous warm inviting sound!

  • Brava!

Fantastic, girl! Here is the next Leontyne Price!
