Inmate escapes Wateree River Correctional Institution

(Wateree) October 13, 2006 - According to the SC Department of Corrections, an inmate has escaped the Wateree River Correctional Institution.

Authorities are looking for Andrew W. Townsend. They say he escaped about 5:05am.

The state Corrections Department says Townsend was sentenced to four years starting in January on an aggravated assault conviction in Horry County.

The 18-year-old Townsend is described as having a fair complexion with brown hair and blue eyes. He's 5'10" tall and weighs about 152 pounds.
