Don't blame the problem on "popular culture or the images they internalize.." blame the fact that these girls mostly grow up with out a responsible father in the home. A child needs to have a mommy and a daddy who are actively involved in the childs life from day one. this is the core of the problem. Until black society fixes this social problem from within the problem will continue.

This was a very moving peice. Many great men died doing what they loved on that track, and it's a very nice idea to pay homage to them.

Clarisa..I don't think it's that simple. I do however think that single motherhood is a sure way to end up in poverty for the mother and child and for that child to grow up without a father figure who is responsible is a recipe for disaster. Please tell me your thoughts on this problem and what can be done to stop the cycle.
