Jeremy Paxman wrestles - not wholly successfully - with newfangled technology (a mobile phone) to appeal to viewers to make their own short news films to be shown on BBC Newsnight. bbc.co.uk/newsnight or http://tinyurl.com/yg4hcu

  • Paxman hates dumbing down Newsnight. He's the only thing keeping political interviewing together.

  • He's right! Journalists need to be closer to the facts, not closer to the people. Editor Weblogs, clips from viewers don't necessarily do this. More investigative journalism is what's really required to improve content.
