  • Sigh.... Watching all of his clips, I sometimes can't help thinking of what might have been. He was just hitting his prime. :( It's hard to even imagine what he might have done as a 4 y/o...heckfire, 5 or 6 y/o for that matter.

  • @kwgrid Yes you can see he was a happy camper from the way he ran around his paddock even years after he had retired. I think he still wanted to show off that he was still the best. He sure had everything you could imagine in a race-horse: speed, acceleration, endurance, intelligence, looks, personality and even smiles for the camera. Even back in 1973 the tv commentators correctly predicted it could be a long time before another such horse would again be bred.

  • @eckythimble I had to chuckle at your comment. :) I guess "diplomacy" was not his strong suit. One of the commentators on the Sports Century clips said "He was an arrogant son-of-a-b*tch." LOL!! Personally, I think he was simply very secure in himself, a happy camper, loving his life. Lawd, I love this horse!! ♥

  • Jeepers, hasn't this horse ever heard of winning by a diplomatic nose or half-head... every time it's multiple lengths!
