President Obama visited Peoria while on his way to the Lincoln Birthday celebration in Springfield, IL. Even though he was only here for about 4 hrs., it was still a cool event. He spoke at East Peoria 's Caterpillar plant, visited with the workers and was out of town pretty quick. Fun fact: In the sky, before Air Force One took off, is a helicopter that surveyed the area before the president's motorcade arrived and followed him off until the plane was out of site. Actually, that's how we knew he was on his way back to the airport. I was hoping to see the fighter jets but they weren't around...or too high up to see. Only military families got the chance to talk to President Obama, but we were all glad to at least take part in the history of the 1st Africian-American President's visit to our town.
