SPECIAL SCREENING EVENT JANUARY 17! Get tickets at http://atlasshrugged-thedoc.com Outtake from an interview for "Ayn Rand & the Prophecy of Atlas Shrugged," a new documentary that for the first time connects Ayn Rand's best-selling novel and notorious philosophy to today's headlines.
Cliff Asness, Managing & Founding Principal, AQR, answers the question: What did Ayn Rand think of unions?
In any relation you have to have a common interest: - the union movement has, in its DNA, the soviet-union-evil-capitalist gene. Which projects toward sucking as much blood out of "the man" as you possibly can - with little regard for future development (except in the form of increasing collective power).
In Atlas Shrugged Miss Rand does advocate for a company union at Rearden Steel. In which case they would have a stake in bargaining with company enrichment & so not worth 'cheating' (1:45)
