My atheism aside. There's a new religion in America, the worship of unearned riches or money that isn't ours. The belief that it is possible to get something for a piece of plastic is more potent in our land than the belief that the Son of God will return to rescue mankind. More like some other omnipotent being is going to forgive our debts; ridiculous. It's time to reinvigorate local banking for small regions and rebuilding trustful relations with people responsible for handling our money.

What an excellent philosophy to teach to our kids. At least with debit its your own money. What kind of society touts the idea that it's acceptable to burrow huge sums of money to pay back at an indeterminate future. The average American household has 15 credit or banking cards with a combined debt of 8,000 dollars.

Of the things here, I disagree with the credit card one. As usual banks are trying to push credit cards. What happened to good old cash. If you pay by cash you can never be subject to fraud. Credit cards are another way to keep tabs on peoples lives. Plus they are a great revenue for banks. And furthermore rewards on cards are stupid. By the time you save enough points or rewards to buy anything of value you could have saved the money and bought with out going into debt again.

@BigBang4Life1 it was raised by law...Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2007
-
who promised to raise minimum wage?
-
I mustache you a question.

Seems as though that the theme here is liberals seem to find success in the seen. Catastrophe in Haiti, hosting the Olympics etc. These problems are really facets of wealth! right? Lets destroy value and in turn, generate it out of the destruction? It's an infantile argument in itself. You really want to generate wealth, you let the American Private sector do it better and more efficient than big government could ever dream of coming up with.

responding to the minimum wage issue: I am a student paid minimum wage. I obviously would like more money but I understand the issue of raising the minimum wage. For what I do, I feel 8 an hour is fair. What I don't think is fair is that if my monthly paycheck is supposed to be 1150 i'll get more like 940. 100 dollars taken out for tax and 100 taken out for "retirement". Why am I losing 100 to retirement when I'm working in a part time student assistant job?
