Hofesh Shechter is one of the UK's most talked-about young choreographers, delivering intensely physical, breathtaking work that immediately connects with audiences. The vibrant, young, urban edge found in Shechter's dance has seen him working on the new season of Channel 4's hit TV series Skins, as well as the National Theatre's new production of Saint Joan.
A former drummer in a rock band, Shechter has created an intense and percussive live soundtrack to accompany his latest work, the stunning In Your Rooms. The evening is completed by Shechter's acclaimed Uprising, a highly charged piece which sees seven men emerge from the shadows to bombard the stage with furious energy, set to a throbbing score, again composed by Shechter himself.
This is your chance to see a highly talented and creative choreographer perform what has been described by the Observer as 'his breakthrough work', and the first time an artist has ever been co-produced by London's three major dance venues: Sadler's Wells, The Place and Southbank Centre.
Be sure not to miss two magical works from this gifted young choreographer - hotly tipped as dance's next big thing.

Tribeofhuman. No I didnt audition. Im not a dancer?? But with your suitably apt name, could u in fact be Mr Shechter himself? In which case please enlighten us with your wisdom. Tribe of Human sounds like a great title for your next work. Tribes, drums, pieces with men, pieces with women. mixed pieces with men and women. Whats next? How about a new piece with women dressed as men, then reverse the concept and you should have enough for anouther 5 years of touring..

Hey Mark. Agreed, I think you missunderstand my point, Im just saying there are alternative/ intelligent structural devices to ensure ensemble work can dip in and out of unison and individual phrasing without seeimg so contrived and militant. Corps de Ballet needs challenging, and this video here is not doing that. The choreographers you listed are not great examples of modern experimental choreographers applying new structural devices in their work. Alvin Ailey. I mean come on man!! Its 2010.

@dantheoriginator OK Dan.
Militant counting and regurgitation of choregraphy is "corps de Ballet" actually and is essential to making sure that not one dancer stand out individually in some tracts. The fact that dancers are counting and hoping that they don't fall out of step is essential stylistically. Have you ever witnessed Martha Graham? Alvin Ailey? LalalaHuman steps? Ballet de Montreal? Kirov?
Its all about the counts and being step my friend. Its called choreography.
