this is a different ball game tho because it has to take into acount the forward speed then do the quarter flip just at the correct moment then put in just enough negative pitch to hold it in place without destroying the skids..
the computer just needs a few points to be registered between a static landing platform and flying object, by sensors like you mentioned, then adjust the heli. there is always slack and with this in mind we don't have to be precise. if the thing lands on the platform with 90% accuracy it wont tilt off it. today, chopper and platform aren't intelligent. what will happen if both are interacting and made flexible by hydraulics etc. the landing platform might even grab the heli out of the air.
aww that makes sense lol

If the landing angle isn't determined in advance, then determine it (via radar, etc.) before landing.
Getting this thing to chuck a helicopter sideways onto a MOVING platform (like an aircraft carrier) is another matter entirely.

Prety good, for a robot.Of course your typical housefly an land on inverted surfaces without any problem.
