This episode of HCTB originally aired on December 18, 1968. For those of you who have never seen this delightful 60's series, it was loosely based on the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

In this version, in order to keep his mountain from falling into the hands of Aaron Stempel (Mark Lenard), Jason Bolt (Robert Brown) and his two brothers Joshua (David Soul) and Jeremy (Bobby Sherman) had to bring 100 eligible brides from Massachusetts to Seattle where they had to stay for a year.

While a premise such as this could have easily turned out to be something silly, it turned out to be just the opposite, often tackling controversial issues along the way. Yet, it managed to stay very entertaining.

The first season is available on DVD and we're patiently waiting for the release of the second season but I'm not sure it will ever see the light of day. Anyway, in keeping with the Christmas them, this is the Christmas episode from the first season. Although it's okay, I don't think it's a true indicator of what the series was about.

  • OMg am I trippin? I could have sworn that there was a spin off of 7 brides for 7 brothers in like the late 70's early 80's? Or were there like 2 spin offs this one then the one I am thinking about?

  • There was another series which was actually called 7 Brides for 7 Brothers in the early 80's. But it only lasted one season and mostly went unnoticed. You can find more info on the IMDB.

  • Hey, how did you get this so clean and clear? Are there DVDs, or do you work in a digital studio or something?

  • The First Season is on DVD. Still waiting and hoping for Season Two.

  • It's been years since I last watched this show! Thank you soooooooo much!!!!!!

  • You're welcome.

  • lol its suppost to be winter and look at the trees they havent lost 1 leaf.....lol

  • @youtub3k Wikipedia says the vocal opening of HCTB was started about half-way into the first season until the 1st few episodes of the 2nd season, then dropped again. And--in syndication that the instrumental was used on ALL episodes for 'uniformity' BUT I could swear when I saw re-runs of this on USA Network in the late 80's that some episodes had the singing openings so who knows for sure.

  • hmm ,hmmm....David Soul looks even cuter in this!!!!:):).....Anyone else notice it was also produced by the S&H William blinn?? Not surprised he picked up David ,after seeing him in this..if only i`d been around for this series!!LOL

  • Hoping to see more of David Soul--what a cutie!

  • OMG. I LOVED this show when I was growing up! Thank you so very much for posting this. They just don't make classy shows like this anymore.

  • You seem to be confusing a pleasant memory, with something that is actually pleasant. Forgettable TV shows fade away. Ask anyone over 40 if they remember this one - anyone? We're not jaded, it's just become popular to accuse others of things we don't like about ourselves.

Far be it for me to appear ungrateful, a thanks to ChristmasFellow2008 for posting - it's always nice to see something I enjoyed from from a time when I was small, ignorant, and naive.
