A small delegation of Unitarian Universalists from Colorado went on a "Just Journey" to Guatemala in the summer of 2010. Just Journeys are unique educational travel experiences sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) that focus on human rights and social justice issues. This 10-day trip focused on current justice and reconciliation efforts in Guatemala, and it coincided with the 28th anniversary of the massacre at Plan de Sanchez in which 184 men, women and children were brutally murdered. The leader of this Just Journey was former UUSC president and internationally known human rights activist, Charlie Clements. The Rev. Peter Morales, president of the Unitarian Universalist Association, was also on the trip .

As someone who has journeyed there about ten times - I congratulate my UU friends who have now been there and know the struggles of so many of the rest of the world's peoples. May our interest and support continue to go well beyond self congratulation to make a difference in the lives of those with significantly less opportunity than we have for ourselves.
