A video to explain the differences between these two events. And to stop the association of Halloween's preverted views with Pagan ways.

  • Halloween is a christian holiday , fact. It was created through the vatican, catholics are christian, you do understand that. Samhain is the original holiday, that is fact as well. It is you that needs to check with reality and history. Samhain means summers end.. GAELIC! Halloween is based off of Samhain, so it would have many similarities.

  • bro, if you're going to make a vid extoling the virtues of Samhain, you should probably learn how to pronounce it correctly first

  • wow. And maybe you should learn all of the different dialects of the gaelic language. If you did you would know that there is more than one way to pronounce it.

  • "Let us keep our Samhain, It is not your Halloween"?

One problem there Samhain isn't yours since its Irish, and last time I checked Féile na Marbh was not celebrated outside of Éireann, Alba, or Ellan Vannin until Irish people brought the tradition over during the famine in the mid 1800's Halloween still practices ancients traditions of Oíche Shamhna, it is still Gaelic whether you like it or not

  • I am Scot/Irish for your information. I follow the ways of my Ancestors.

  • lol Scotch-Irish? what clan are you from?

  • Another humorous "Educational Video". How is it humorous do you ask? A supposedly educated person who uses the word "pagan" like it's the name of a religion. "Pagan" was a insult (latin paganus, or hill dweller) used by the church to describe the unbaptized populace. Basically saying "I am a Pagan" is saying "I am an uneducated hillbilly" the actual meaning of the word.

  • Indeed the Church took the older pagan festival and put a Christian spin or ethos to it, Nov 1st/2nd all Saints/Souls day. However it may be easy to just blame the learned Church men for everything, remember that Haloween/Samháin is the meeting of Christianity to the older traditions. The type of Christianity that evolved from the Irish/Scots Colmcille traditions kept the non-murderous parts of Samháin, respect for the dead, pray for souls. BUT no slavery or just culling people!

  • There are sinister apects of Samháin too. Some say that the full moon of this time of year was indeed years end, the death of the year. So if you didn't prepare well enough for the coming, wicked, winter then many times your neighbors would, well, cull you! The hills ran red etc. Better to kill the lazy or weak now rather than wait untill Januaray and he is a big problem to you. Please don't be too romantic about celtic or gaelic traditions. There was sinister sides to those traditions too.

  • This was very interesting and infromative.

  • @doom696mented I'm Catholic :) and i don't thank things not Christian is evil there are many Faiths and many Ways to practice what you Believe . Yes there are a lot of Christians that believe that and it sad there so close mined . I have always practice my Faith in a more Spiritual way . I'm one those rare open mined Catholics . God Bless , and have a Blessed Sanhain

  • Thank you for this video- very informative & interesting.

  • The two holidays can hardly be said to be completely different. the whole idea of feasting and masks was taken directly from Samhain to Halloween. The masks were worn to protect the soul from the returning spirits. Both days focus on the dead and the boarders between worlds... they honestly didn't change the day much...

  • Food was left for loved ones who had passed away, people who wanted to roam the nights had to dress up as the dead so to speak in order to hide that they were infact living and not taken to the after life early, superstitious and fearful people made our traditions and I gladly fallow them to protect myself from the long since past.

  • ... Down pointing star is a hex a gram, not satanic, you are an idiot, calling your self a pagen is in insult to other pagens like myself the horned god it represents the guardian of the woods and nature. Please just stop calling yourself pagen and speaking on our "behalf" samhain is a day of sacrifice to keep the next harvest rice, also it was a day where the dead walked the earth as part of the sacrifice, so lanterns and candles were burned behind mask to scare off malicious spirits where...

  • why do christians never accept the truth b b x
