One of the reasons that music today isn't what it was is look at putting together a room full of musicians with all those instruments is hard to justify when everything can be done on computers and there isnt money to pay that many guys. Its the short end of the stick for sure if you like real music out of REAL INSTRUMENTS! Check out our Band Quantum Groove on Reverbnation to hear our songs, we also have a few vids up. Duke Ellington, like Thelonius Monk, can what the hell ever they want to do with their songs, whether someone is filming them or not. If the director has a problem someone should remind that fool exactly who is the subject of the film.

Well namestook, I am relatively new to Jazz (having only played a few years) but our professor who has been playing for years actually ENCOURAGES us to groove, as long as it isn't distracting to the rest of the show. Whatever helps ya feel the groove. The problem (and one of the biggest challenges I've faced) is relaxing and letting the music move you. Laying back on the beat, and articulating the off-beats. From what I've learned, that is what Jazz is all about!
