Only 30 years after gaining independence, the upstart United States found itself once again battling Great Britain. At stake were the future of emocracy and America's Manifest Destiny. Pitted against the world's most powerful nation, victory seemed unlikely. But then Andrew Jackson's brilliant leadership, a lone sniper, and one of the most lopsided victories in military history turned the tide of the war.
@Freedom21stCenturi Republic doesn't really solve that issue at all.

@RationalistViewpoint Because democracy sucks balls. A republic is better. I live in western canada and since most people in canada live in the east, it doesn't matter if the entire western population of canada voted one way, the eastern vote wins everytime.

I live in canada and wish the US gained control of Canada both in the 1812 campaign or earlier during the revolutionary war campaign.

@garytow Absolutely. Boston was a big help after the Halifax explosion, many times in history the US has acted with Nobility. (As for WW2 they waited 2 years building their industrial base as we fought the war, my Grandfather was Merchant Marines the battle of the Atlantic was no picnic.)
The war of 1812 wasn't one of the USA's better moments.
They skinned Tecumseh, Leaving out all the crap they did.
This is a 2004 show what the hell are they doing this for now?

@TheIcelandicPatriot 88875 Icelandic/Canadians mainly in Gimli, Manitoba. New Iceland nice ring to it. Not our largest cultural group but thats pretty good. They say there are more Scottish in Canada then Scotland. Still lots of room to grow.
Well I've been to L'Anse aux Meadows where Leifur Eiríksson landed right here in Newfoundland. I wonder if that explains the rumors of blue eyed natives back in the early days. #LOL
Lots of history alright. The good kind. Peaceful.
