Quran is the 100% truth,it's only for people who THINK,cause lot of verses need to be interpreted according to the context and lot of arabic words there can be interpreted in 100s of ways...Quran has perfect science....example:
(God) subjected the sun and the moon: each one runs its course to an appointed term (13:2)
We have indeed adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets (14:37)
"the heavens and the earth were joined together as one unit, before We clove them asunder"(21:30)

"Behold! the angels said, 'Oh Mary! God gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him. His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter...
(3:45-48).
"Christ, the son of Mary, was no more than a messenger; many were the messengers that passed away before him. His mother was a woman of truth. They had both to eat their (daily) food. See how God makes His signs clear to them; yet see in what ways they are deluded away from the truth!" (Holly Quran 5:75).

bjorn,

Spiritual realities are the foundation of the natural.
Therein, is spiritual "up and down".

Jesus Christ was wll aware of both realities..

"Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee." (Mt 17:27)

"Also if you think about it there is no up and down in space. " This fact is NOWHERE in the scriptures which are clearly up-and-down oriented. The writers never knew that they lived on a spinning planet that circles the sum.

Right, my moon interpretation was incorrect and I feel pretty silly about it. I was trying to address that it says that there are seven heavens and in another passage it says the stars are in the lower heavens. Shadi1007 above brought something to the table that makes my accusation a little questionable. Why am I an idiot for making an observation?

I see. But why did they translate it as lower?

In Arabic, words are based off of 3 letter root words with similar meanings. For example the Arabic word for pen, library, writing, are all similar. However some words have multiple meaning and are directed according to the context of the text. In islam we do not say "allah is above, below,to the right or left" We say he is greater and far beyond all of that. Also if you think about it there is no up and down in space. Dunya means world OR lower in this context however it is world.
