I firmly believe that this is the most consequential vote each of us will take in our service here in Congress.

When you expose this bills budget gimmicks, does it increase the debt and deficit? Yes.

Will it take coverage away from seniors, raise premiums for families, and decrease health care innovation? Yes.

Will it raise taxes on small businesses and workers, and cost us nearly 5.5 million jobs when our unemployment rate is 10.2%? Yes.

Does this bill mean the government will take over running our health care system? Yes.

But what is worse is this bill replaces the American Idea with a European-style social welfare state. This bill more than any other decision we are going to make in this body will lead to millions of Americans becoming dependent on the state rather than being dependent upon themselves.

This is not about health care policy if it were, we could pass a bipartisan bill to fix whats broken in health care without breaking whats working in health care.

This is about ideology. What side of history do you want to be on? Will you be on the side of history where you stick with the people and the principles that built this exceptional nation? This is the choice we face.

  • He is absolutely right. It is about ideology not reason. And the scales just tipped in favor of peasants trusting their well being to a feudal master. Socialism, where central power takes your money/power and decides what is best for everyone, is not progressive. It is Feudalism. Bunch of elite and their trusted mandarins look after and rule lives of ordinary folk. Feudals provide security, hand outs, charity...but they demand your utter obedience...or it does not work. Freedom vs Security.

  • And they passed it anyways.. if the truth hit them in the face liberals still wouldn't get it.. This is all about decreasing the population.. Mr. Ryan you are a exceptional person!

  • you people are trully fucked!!i love USA and i have no problem with you!the only bad think is that you remind me of greece before the crisis!!this dude that speaks is correct, unfortunatelly for you,you will fall for it and suffer...public health care will take more than you think it will give!!here in greece people that want this kind of changes are called communists...good people but...with no brains!!anyway keep up be strong!!

  • @Suarez23 I am mad at the Democrats because they are acting like wimps. They dont stand up to the Republicans. But I am more mad at the Republicans because they are making the U.S. dangerouse and that is a fact. Politicians are making more money from the Corporations and special interests then what their salaries are paying them. That is a conflict of interest and they should be fired for that. They should be working on creating jobs instead of blocking the efforts to creat jobs by the democrats.

  • @Suarez23 The function of gouvernment is to work for us. That is why we pay their salaries with our taxes. Law enforcement is not strong everywhere because there are too many places in the U.S where the police is taking too long to respond because police stations are closing down. Getting rid of police, FBI, CIA, and other law enforcement jobs when the U.S. populattion is growing is the wrong. The republicans are asking, "Where are the Job?" but they have done nothing to create jobs.

  • @gmatamoros You don't seem to understand the function of government. What does police and the feds have anything to do with each other? Police is a city function not a national function. The FBI has taken down more mobsters recently than in the past decade. Sounds like law enforcement is still pretty strong. That's probably the only good thing Obama has done. Repubs are pro law enforcements. Democrats hate law enforcement.

  • @gmatamoros Last I noticed, Democrats controlled the house for four years, controlled the executive branch for two years, and have half of the judicial branch. Seems you should be mad a Democrats.

  • I think this guy fancies himself a some sort of hero from an Ayn Rand novel.

  • What side of history do I want to be on? Any one that is opposite from Ryan.

  • @gmatamoros The Republicans are eliminating hundreds of thousands of law enforcement agency jobs including police, sherrif, correctional officer, FBI, CIA, SEC, just to name a few. The republicans are milking our economy and are eliminating the law. The Republicans are making us pay over $4 a gallon of gas. They are making the insurance and drug companies Trillions of dollars richer at our expense. Why do we vote for these guys? They are making the U.S. unsafe.
