I remember many hours of broadcasts from this scene. Although as a Canadian Liberal Party supporter, I was astonished at what could happen at a Democratic convention, given that Libs and Dems are basically cut from the same cloth.

It was a police riot, ordered, abetted by Mayor Daley. The sight of the beatings, blood and oppression kept me riveted to my TV for 48 hours or so, and bolstered my resolve to not grow up to be my parents, who had no regard for the hippies in the news.
