@decayedmatter - It flopped because on-set spies told George about some of the Dune plot, so he tacked it onto his on Star make-it-so-everyone-is-spoon-f
ed-the-plot Wars and then rushed production to beat Dune make-everyone-use-their-brain to the box office. Dune is a very good movie, great cast and not bad effects for it's time, good soundtrack too. Frankly I don't think a hell of a lot of people who say that this movie is straight up bad (infact I put it down to a lack of imagination) -
There's Patrick Stewart, but who else in that plane was in Elder Scrolls?

@ancalites Funny that most of his scenes ended up deleted.

Fuck, I never noticed that was Lynch! good eye! Wow......

i kinda like this movie... but i hate the word "spice"

Lynch looks a bit like a Star Wars character here.

@UlrichTheOmega I agree, but 2 films seem more reasonable, I can only imagine the first movie's climax be the Sardaukar invasion and then the rest has time developing Paul's character properly with longer battle scenes.

@decayedmatter Too much people hate this movie, just leave it as that, I always found this to be a masterpiece, only a cult audience could agree though

Dune was never meant to be a single film. The book itself is split into 3 sections, therefore wouldn't it be logical to do 3 films??? You can't take a book with so many characters and so much dialogue and condense it down to a 2 or even 3 hour film. The Harry Potter series has tried to do this, mostly with disappointing results. Give Dune the film treatment it deserves and needs.
This film is proof that no matter how bad the movie, it's always worth watching if Patrick Stewart is in it.

@ancalites Now now, i thought this was a pretty good movie, though the made for tv miniseries was more accurate to the book i felt this one brought david lynch's distinct style to the dune universe and had the star power to back it up. Just because it was a box office flop dopesn't mean it was a bad movie, why do you think it was a bad movie personally?
