  • very sorry for the audio/video quality... this was my first attempt at uploading a video that wouldn't get blocked by youtube. i only left it online because so many people were viewing it. you can watch the entire concert in HD via netflix, or purchase the DVD on itunes or amazon.

  • FINALLY!! To hear someone actually SING this song, instead of yelling it!! And, Patti is the ONLY one with enough balls to do it with Stritch sitting right there. Secondly, this song is NOT about bitterness & sadness. It's about bitchy sarcasm for these "dinosaurs"!! Go to a lady's luncheon (Yes, they still have them!!!) in NYC, Beverly Hills, SF, Dallas, DC or Atlanta & you will see exactly what she's singing about; their fittings, their galas, their openings, their trainers.

  • So much better than Streisand's (although her Pretty Women is very nice)

  • "Does anyone still wear a hat?" BRILLIANT!

  • @judebarnes4 Plenty of folks have the balls to do it to Elaine's face. Personally, the opportunity alone would be incentive enough for me. And plenty of folks sing it. Carol Burnett has an amazing version--not the one in Putting It Together; it's earlier than that. There's a video of a high school production. That girl has some pipes.

And besides that--this song is endlessly adaptable. You can yell it and it loses none of its acid fun.

  • @MPL029 This is not a "bad" interpretation, it's ANOTHER interpretation. It's a different singer, a different time, and a different attitude altogether. I liked it--it's more snarky than tragic, and out of context from the show, it makes for an interesting song rather than "scream."

  • @judebarnes4

Are you dissing Elaine Stritch? You've got to be kidding. And I agree with the earlier post--it's more than bitchyness. You can't see that? Look/listen to the end. For that matter, check out the incredible documentary on hear about the soundtrack recording with Sondheim not satisfied. Also, Patti tends to bellow too much. Sorry, just is.

  • @judebarnes4 Thanks. Though I can't help but tell you your explanation itself felt "yelled." Btw, if anything, Patti had the "eggs" to sing it w Elaine sitting there, not the "balls" (it's a human anatomy thing). Thx, tho.

  • Fucking wow!

  • I LOVE ELAINE AND PATTIS VOICE

  • So brilliant!!!

  • She scoops too much.
