The difference betwen XPe and Windows XP FES is that Windows XP FES is the same version as the retail XP Professional version only with different licensing. This is the fastest way to switch to embedded. XP Embedded is a fully componentized version of XP Professional. It is more complex to setup but you are very flexible in selecting which parts of the OS should be in and which not. WES2009 is a relaunch of XPe starting from SP3. It has some new features like Silverlight and longer support.

Does XPE support ARM processors?

@shaider77 No - XPe is based on Windows XP Professional therefore it only supports x86 architecture. You can use Windows Embedded CE which supports ARM.

I don't quite get the point. What is this for?
Is this only for WinXP Embedded?
What can this tool do that nLite cannot?
Why are WMP and DX installed if this is supposed to be embedded? Why not use VLC?
How large is the final installation?
Is the whole driver database included in the installation?
Can this "image" be programmed into an EPROM and run on a diskless system?

Yes this tool is only for Windows XP Embedded - but there is also a version available for Windows Embedded Standard.
nLite does not work with XPe as XPe is a complete different approche.
The size depends on what components you select starting from 100MB minimum footprint. You can install also all XP SP3 default drivers if you wish but in an embedded environment the image should only contain the needed drivers (new version has PnP detection included). You cannot boot XP from EPROM.
