Breathtaking views and the best footage and illustrations of the Goliath Crane project. A rare opportunity to take a virtual tour of the operators cab, elevator and catwalk and more.

  • Awesome video men. Thanks for sharing this. I worked at Aker Shipyard in Philadelphia where they have a Goliath crane.

  • Glad you enjoyed, I never heard of Aker until now. I'm still doing research on the Goliath years in Quincy. Interesting that Aker started at the time the Quincy yard was floundering.

  • The owners along with Mass Audubon Society have addressed and complied with regulations regarding this issue. The nest has been monitored for years and was moved to another safer location by environmental officials. The pair still hunt there. As long at the structure is moved by 2009, there is no risk of a new nest.

  • In memory of Ironworker, Robert "Bobby" Harvey, who was killed on 8/14/08 at the Goliath Crane. Our prayers and respect extends to the families of the injured too, workers and friends who are who grieving with this tragic news.

  • This is only a tiny toy crane, the 2 cranes in Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast North Ireland are at least twice the size of that toy as well as Ireland having the largest dry dock in the world. That tiny crane and mickey mouse shipyard is a joke.

  • Does anyone know if the crane made it to it's new home yet?

  • good vid

  • Indeed. You would never get me up there though as I am terrified of heights. Aker has been around for long time in Europe. Their Phila operations occupy part of what used to belong to the Navy and includes dry docks 4 and 5. There are a half dozen or so Locomotive cranes in this yard and all but one are abandoned in place. I was temped to climb up into one but then I thought about pigeon guano and the desease it carries. Also, I might have gotten in trouble with management.

  • ah yes the shipyard a great place and i'm sad some dumb*** car dealership is making that into a parking lot

  • super video!, 5 stars!, its an amazing feeling being on top of one of these monsters, thanks for great footage!
