@tigerarmyrule You are soooo right. The 70's were the golden age of the FA cup when modern technology meant that it was live on the telly but we weren't so overrun with live football that it took secong place to the champions league. It was still THE cup to win. Don't suppose I'll ever see my beloved Walsall win it in my lifetime :-(

@tigerarmyrule I beleive it. I remember it as a huge occasion. It was like a royal weeding every year and people were glued to their tv sets all over the country.

It's impossible for those under about 35 years of age to realise what an absolutely huge occasion the Cup Final was in the '70s. Its impossible to believe now that at the time it truly rivalled the European Cup in the eyes of fans. No under 35 will believe that but people in their 40s and older will easily believe it.
