Alice Stuart, rockqueen3 here on Youtube, wrote me a message about two weeks ago: she told me how she was able to play with Mississippi John Hurt and how much she loves his Spanish Fandango. Yes indeed, a very beautiful song. Not difficult to play and so much room for your emotions. I didn't learn the John Hurt version but more the old one by Henry Worrall. At least I worked out my own interpretation.

It is an American Mexican influenced folk song. I play it in Open G. It is easy to play, also a great tune for beginners in that tuning.

Now I have to change the tuning, want to learn new voicings .... see and hear you,
Your Lena

  • @specialrider54 Thanks so much Dave!! :DD

Hope I will be able to hold this average ;)

Tonight will visit you on your channel ...

    Cheers,

    Lena

  • Very nice Lena, I was looking for some covers of this beautiful song when I discovered this wonderful rendition. A pleasure meeting you and you share some name as my grand daughter "Lena" who is going to be 3 years old this year, my 2nd grandchild. Mark

  • @Maysey1 Thank you very much Mark!! Kept the tune simple, without too many ornaments. I think this is the best way to perform these kind of songs (learned it from classical Country Blues men and women). Many greetings from white (snow again!) Bavaria and a kiss to your grandchild ... Lena :))

  • Great pickin' Lena!

  • @patarnone1 Thanks a lot Pat! :)) Greetings from Regensburg to Seattle! (please send on some best wishes to Alice and her band)

  • that's great! can i get tab for it any were?

  • @WPMinor Thanks so much ... wonderful to hear about your uncle's version. Yes indeed, I think that mostly the simplest-purest version is the best (or as we say in German: less is more). I didn't know Sweet Home, but I found out that there is a wonderful version of Bicycle Built For Two by John Fahey (he named this song Daisy). Please have a little passion, but I think I will do the song this year).

  • Cool, This is my very first song to learn. Taught by elderly uncle when I was 10 or so. This is the nearest to how he played it however I dont think he used the three chord. It is funny how the interpretations vary. Beautiful in its simplicity thanks for posting. Love this stuff. Do you play home sweet home or bicycle built for two by chance?
