  • sorry, but the black influence of using minor 7th and major7th chording structures in their music was just very very cool.

  • THAT CHICK BEHIND HIM WITH THE FLOWER IN HER HAIR IS FREAKING GORGEOUS GOOD TASTE MAJOR LANCE

  • Can't you people ever talk about anything without mentioning 'RACE'! Unless your talking about 'MARTIANS'or another 'SPECIES' what's the point? Major lance what a ClASS ACT!

  • @WickedTornado ~ Growing up in SoCal, we had a couple of pretty good dance shows on local L.A. television. My girl (Joan) and I even got tickets and appeared on "9th Street West" in November 1964 while we were seniors. The show was hosted by local radio personality, Sam Riddle, and we had a great time on the show. Another similar show, that could be seen in L.A., was The Lloyd Thaxton Show and Thaxton was a trip. Both shows were, as we use to say, "bitchin, far out, too much and outta sight!

  • I don't remember the show "Shivaree". I remember Shindig and Hullabaloo, though. Perhaps this show didn't fare too well, as this particular episode didn't seem like it was very well done. Major clearly looked a bit off, and my guess is that he wasn't able to hear the music well enough to lip sync, at least thru the first half. And that poor white gal to the left of him clapping, she seems like she'd rather be drowning in a river than be there at that moment. Fun to watch! Thanks for posting!

  • @MrRonnieG Total Dittoes (meaning I'm in total agreeance with you) about what you said. I'm a white guy too (not...a white BOY), and around my buds here in southern Ariz. growing up in a patch of Allman Bros. and Lynard Skynard fanatics (me too, actually) I was the only one who just LOVED Major's stuff. I even have his double-CD set. I'm 57, and Jr. High is where we'd play his music at dances. Like you say, kudos to Major and Curtis Mayfield for writing most of Major's music. RIP to 'em both.

  • I was a senior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe Springs, California from the Fall of 1964 until the summer of 1965 and NOBODY made better dancing music than Major Lance (and I'm a white guy). We use to do (what we called) the "slide & glide" to the Major's music AND (IMHO) this was the best song that Major Lance EVER recorded and we can thank the great Curtis Mayfield for that! R.I.P. Major Lance ..................

  • Nothing tops off a musical performace like some go-go dancers!

  • 1965, the year I graduated from highschool. Scary to think those go go dancers are Now the same age as me!!!!It was a great time!!
