Oh, and stop reading tabs. You'll never learn how to play guitar properly if you rely on those things. If you buy a "song book" do it for the notes, not for the tabs.
Read music the way people have been doing it for 1000s of years;
On a staff. Tabs are for kids.

I'm glad you had the money to go out and buy a guitar that's nice, but if you want to sing in front of people train your voice up.
Sorry to break it to ya, but you were off-key pretty much the entire song.
the "don't hold your love over my head" part was SO off key that I took my headphones off.
Do yourself a favor and participate in some "Ear Training"
It'll greatly improve your ability to match pitch with your guitar while playing.

I actually have the songbook for "Heavier Things". You can get it at Guitar Center easily. I hope that helps.
