Work in progress. This should actually be in open G tuning. I didn't know that. This one's standard but tuned down to around D on a 000-16 SGT. No tabs, you savages!!!

  • I came across your clips for the first time today while researching the great Skip James and now have listened to a bunch of your music. Wow. You're a terrific player, clearly with a real understanding of those great old players, excellent left and right hands, and even more importantly, great FEELING for this no-longer-quite-so-lost body of music. It's great to hear someone other than my crotchety old buddies and me showing love for it. Keep on truckin.

  • Nice job! I have the 000-16 SGT too and love it for stuff like this. Parlor guitars and fingerpicking blues go together like Frankie & Jonny. Keep doing what you do and forget the haters - not one in a hundred of them have a video showing they could do better. Most of them live in their parent's basements and post cynical comments to make themselves feel better, and are trying in vain to make up for all the hugs and words of encouragement they missed out on as children.

  • be my wife!

  • its missing the john hurt driving base and thumpig rhythm. Pick up the speed a little too.

  • your beautiful!

  • where do you play, where do you go?

  • wow cool i learned this in open G, ....one thing i love about john is that you can play almost anything by him in open G, and in this one you can play it in standard and it is still pretty close to the original,... cheers again

  • just great. i love the pause of remembering the lyrics.

  • PS would love to hear your rendition of some numbers by Furry Lewis and Sam Lightnin' Hopkins, especially "My California" (if you can ever get you hands on it) from his 1958 LP "Lightnin Hopkins Strums the Blues"

  • different hair, same great talent

  • beautifull hair :-)

  • hhhhheeeyyy haircut!!! You continues the great player and singer!!! Go on!!

  • Excellent. I'm just starting to learn my first MJH song. I hope one day, I'll be able to play them as well as you. Nice job.

  • i'm sold on the feelings in the expressions of your face

  • this is exactly what i wanted to hear. beautiful playin. beautiful guitar

  • very good! muy bien la guitarra y la voz Bravo!

  • @RADNOR18938 well put.

  • Nice job, Christine. Crow Jane is still my favorite performance by you. I noticed you are playing a Martin 000-16SGT. I've got the same guitar, too. Not sure if you have already done this, but I replaced the original Tusq saddle with a bone saddle and also replaced the Micarta nut with a bone nut. My guitar has really opened up with those two changes--have a listen to my rendition of That's All Right.

  • your a great guitarist and vocalist and you have great taste.

  • Any chance of you posting your version of Casey Jones, I would love to hear it? (fingers crossed)

  • Your playing and singing is always humbling and inspiring.

  • Love the break @ 3:30 ! Awesome !

  • wd for getting the riff in standard. hard enough to play @ speed in G. you sing it well too.
