Interesting. I wanted to mention directional continuity if you don't know of it yet. When something is seen going right to left or w/e the next shot of anything you see should continue that direction. The way you can escape this is by showing the subject front on or straight from the rear. Although I will concede that you got away with it in the second boat coming the other way because the water shot before was of the water going right to left also! so the water was your continuity! Nice one.
