How's that Hope N Change workin fer ya? Love hearing Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, CNN, CNBC, & others demanding American coal industry to be shut down. Thanks UMWU for supporting Obama!
I was at every Major Democratic event in VA and SC this year. my mom dragged me along and I met Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton,
Jim Webb And my mom is a friend of Mark Warner but every democrat in virginia is right? lol he has so many people at his pig roasts. my mom took Lisa to Wal - Mart to talk to voters when he was running for governor and help her with talking to the public because she is really shy.
I too have friends "in the other camp," but I would never refer to them as "ninnies" or "sheep" (unless one of them was wearing a sheep costume for some particular reason, but naturally that would fall under a different discussion). Again, please accept my humblest apologies for not communicating my thoughts about Eric Martin clearly. Truly I did not intend to infer that you were lumping all conservatives together.
I must apologize. I did not mean to say you lump us all together. I was meaning to separate the majority of us from Mr. Martin. Please forgive me for not clarifying my remarks. You seem perfectly calm, collected and intelligent to me, regardless of our differing political views. Your encounter with Mr. Martin sounds very typical of his general disposition.
I was completely respectful, pointing out flaws in his logic (for instance, he claims that "young people don't vote, period" but then applauded the UMW Young Republicans for the turnout).
He summarily deleted my comments.
But as one who has friends "on the other side of the aisle," I enjoy intelligent discussions and debates on our idealogical differences. Apparently, I went to the wrong blog for that...
I absolutely do not lump all conservatives into Mr. Martin's camp. I'd not even heard of his blog until googling Senator Obama's UMW appearance. When I read that Mr. Martin had diminished the passion (and sheer numbers) of those who did attend, I felt compelled to address his claims. (It didn't help that he characterized Obama supporters as "ninnies" and "sheep.")
He actually works for American Life League, a 501(c)3, and his group should not have been protesting at the rally; at least not under the ALL name. On behalf of polite conservatives, I am sorry you had a poor internet experience with Mr. Martin. I am sure you understand most conservatives do not behave like that and, in fact, are much more intelligent than him.
Not all of us "right-wingers" are complete nutters. Some us are quite stable in our convictions. We can even have sane and rational conversations without resulting to deleting comments or belittling our opponents. Eric Martin (Rappahannock Red), however, is not one to be counted among us. I know him and he is quite off his rocker; a very angry little man if ever there was one.
