David Hoffman introduces security plus training from one of his educational content providers as part of his JOBFORCE® Brand of employment, training, and placement services in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia Washington Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The goal is to discover if IT career focused individuals would have an interest in receiving training courses via their mobile devices which are internet enabled.

Hoffman is planning to offer IT training courses to his clients who can access the training for a subscription fee, or at no cost to eligible WIA candidates. Hoffman believes today's highly mobile society, together with the overly demanding schedules of balancing work, family, and education make the products he is introducing fill a demonstrated need in keeping today's workers skilled, trained, and work-ready.

  • @CazK88 Necro is right on this one. You don't have to get 2 years experience before taking the exam. If fact, self study I think is better than some of the 5-day courses I've seen. I also agree with Necros advice on taking the Network+ first because it will prepare you for a lot of things that I saw on the Security+ exam. Certs, and exams aside, these are just a part of the career path. Experience gets you hired, and you can get this easily by interning or volunteering in ex for a reference.

  • Is the Network+ required before getting a Security+ certification? Should you possess 2 years of experience before you take Security+ courses?

  • will this be upated for the 2011 edition

  • Where can I find this CBT series Mr. SHannon is referring to?

  • @CazK88

    Hey CazK.

I'm pretty certain you have to pay for course material yourself, but I used an .iso of Network+ Duelux revision guide, which includes: labs, questions, flashcards and an e-book authored by Todd Lammel, and TestKing's exam preparation VCE (featuring 734 questions). I think the latter helped me more in attaining my certificate; I got distracted often when reading through the N+ revision guide.

  • @jobforce

    Thanks for the feedback.

Does CompTIA have an online course with labs, etc included to get your certification?

  • @NecroSlavery

Thanks. My main goal is getting the C|EH certification but it recommends a Security+ and a Network+. I just can't see myself doing the Network+ as my field is security oriented.

Does CompTIA have an online course with labs, etc included to get your certification?
